Job Title: Programme Funding Manager
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Location: Southwark, London (with about 8 weeks of overseas travel a year)
Salary: £32,000 per annum

Background
Established in Bangladesh 40 years ago, BRAC is now one of the largest development organisations in the world, with programmes in 10 countries across Africa and Asia. BRAC UK, an affiliate of BRAC, works to raise resources for its programmes in Africa and Asia, as well as raise awareness about BRAC in UK.
A small team of six staff, based in Southwark, work closely with country programme managers to develop projects and fundraising proposals for a range of donors, including DFID, EU, trusts, corporates, foundations and individuals. In the past year we have successfully raised £3m from institutional donors, and we now want to build on that success by broadening our fundraising to include corporate donors, foundations and individuals, hence this new post.
The new post holder will work closely with other BRAC UK team members, as well as staff in our programmes, BRAC International and BRAC USA. Because BRAC UK is a new fundraising team, s/he holder will need to work flexibly with other team members as our capacity grows.

Main Purpose of Job:
The purpose of the post is to raise funds for BRAC’s programmes in Africa and Asia in line with BRAC UK’s organisational strategy 201114, in particular by developing BRAC UK’s capacity to raise funds from corporate donors, trusts, foundations and individuals,.

Responsibilities
Donor information
To research and identify prospective donors amongst corporates, trusts, foundations and individuals, identifying opportunities and the best approach
To monitor developments, changes and trends in the corporate, trust, foundations sectors
To liaise closely with colleagues in BRAC UK, BRAC USA and BRAC International to ensure that approaches to potential donors are well coordinated across the organisations to maximise income and duplication is avoided
In collaboration with the director of development and communications, to develop key communication messages and tailored communication materials for trusts, corporates and foundations

Fundraising
To raise agreed annual and three year income targets in line with BRAC UK’s organisational strategy 201114
To initiate and build contacts and relationships with corporates, trusts and foundations, ensuring that they understand BRAC and are kept up to date on developments in BRAC
To provide information, support and briefings to the chief executive and Board members in their work with high net worth individual donors
To develop quality proposals for development projects and social enterprise initiatives, with budgets, liaising closely with programmes staff and advisers in BRAC International

Grant management
To be the first point of contact for corporates, trusts and foundations that have made grants to BRAC, maintaining good working relationships
To liaise with BRAC International and country programme managers, as appropriate, to ensure that for grants for which BRAC UK is accountable, financial and other information is received and analysed, as required by contract agreements
To ensure that quality narrative and financial reports are delivered in line with BRAC UK’s grant management procedures and contract requirements
To monitor BRAC UK’s performance in relation to donor contract requirements and bring any anomalies to the attention of the chief executive
To proactively manage grant performance, identifying risks and working with colleagues to minimise them

Other responsibilities
To manage an intern (if/when appointed), supporting their professional development and supervising their work to support fundraising from trusts and corporate donors
To contribute to and support the work of other BRAC UK fundraisers at times when workloads are less evenly balanced
To work closely with other managers in developing and consolidated fundraising plans and reports for the Board of Trustees and other relevant stakeholders
To participate in relevant external networks, sharing information and learning
To undertake other activities that lie within the scope of this role, as directed by the chief executive.
