Consultant for the Leprosy Mission International Christian NGO in Bangladesh


The Leprosy Mission International is a registered international Christian NGO, working in Bangladesh since 1991 to eradicate the cause and consequences of leprosy through treatment, education, training, rehabilitation, research, and community development programmes. TLMI has a focus on being a 'learning organization'.

TLMI Bangladesh runs a successful long-term programme in the Chittagong Hill Districts carrying out leprosy control activities and supporting physical, social and economic rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy and disability. It is looking to build on this success and learn new ideas drawn from local and international experience and identify innovative methodologies and practices and more effective ways of carrying out its existing activities.

TLMI Bangladesh  invites applications from  interested and  suitably qualified  individuals or organizations for the following short -term consultancies:

1. Consultant for Information,   Education,   Communication   (1EC)/   Behavioral   Change Communication (BCC) / Social Marketing
Role - Review existing awareness-raising activities within communities regarding leprosy, nutrition, water and sanitation and rights activities. Develop a new IEC/BCC/Sodal Marketing strategy and identify materials to meet the Programme's objectives and advise on appropriate technology. Skills/  experience  required - IEC/BCC/social   marketing/awareness   raising  activities  in  the development context - preparation of strategies and materials.

2. Consultant for Small-group, social and economic empowerment initiatives:
Role - Review existing small group activities focused on socio-economic (rights, inclusion, income generation, sustainability) development of the target people. Make recommendations to improve the approach/activities/initiative and impact of activities to meet the Programme's objectives. Skills/     experience required - community based development – small group empowerment/mobilization approaches - self-help and group work - small scale economic development (not essential)- cooperative economic development.

Consultancy fee: The applicants are requested to quote their price for the job (the job demands about two weeks field work, one week interaction with staff and one week report preparation). Office will bear local transportation cost and arrange other logistic support.
